Ask me useless things
So recently my friend Danny Vermeulen asked me to help him maintain and optimize his company website Anexe Bedrijfsoptimalisatie Adviesbureau Leiden. So I aked him which CMS he was using… Hoping he would say Wordpress. Not sure he said I think it’s called Joomla. Immediatly all alarmbells went off followed by an allergic reaction. I asked him why he choose for joomla? He said everybody was very content with it because of the ease of use and being seo friendly and all… clearly the people he asked must have been mentally challenged or they had never heard from wordpress which mean they must have been living under a rock for ages.
Anyway he sounded desperate understanding he made a bad choice chosing for joomla. So I agreed I would help him out.
One of the greatest achievements Joomla (V. 1.5x) can be proud off is the amount of duplicate content it generates. It really is insane. And don’t even get me started about the leg of a good canonical tag. Everything you want to do has to be done manually… for every single page. Now i’m not a techie so please don’t confront me with any coding at all! Just fix that shit for me if you would? I’m mean how hard can it be?
So finally we bought an overpriced plugin that messed up all the URL’s and I had to fix all the links for the third time. Ok it’s all working now but I’m waiting for the day where I get an email from Danny saying could you please fix this for me….
So if in doubt or even when you made up your mind for Joomla don’t do it! Just say no! Go the extra mile pay a few bucks more and choose for wordpress if you don’t want to marrie your webdeveloper :D
